A bite of a turkey sandwich, and 4-year-old Seth Breece was ready for a game of hide-and-seek with the new friend he met during the Ohio Summer Food Service Program at Garfield Park.
Before he announced to his fellow game-player, “I’m Batman!” the son of Miranda Breece revealed that his favorite part of the program, administered at 23 sites in Marion County and two locations in Morrow County, is “swing and slide.”
“I just think it’s nice to bring them to the park, and they get lunch at the same time,” said Miranda Breece — who, accompanied by her sister, Linda Feltner, brought sons Christian, 12; Noah, 11; and Seth to the park on Monday.
Her children received three of the 75,000 federally funded meals the Marion program is targeted to provide this summer through Aug. 7, said Winnie Brewer, director of food services for Marion City Schools. The program served nearly 60,000 meals in 41 days last summer.
